Russell Wilson: The Contract Will Work Itself Out

Jul 1, 2015 2:09 AM

Russell Wilson is not distracted by or worried about his contract situation with the Seattle Seahawks.

"It's not where my focus is," Wilson said, via Madison.com. "The rest will work out. The contract will work itself out. I'm excited about it and excited to hopefully be a Seattle Seahawk for a really, really long time. So, that's the goal."

It has become increasingly clear that a deal between the Seahawks and Wilson will not get done quickly or easily.

Wilson, Seahawks Not Concerned Extension Talks Will Be Distraction

Jun 19, 2015 8:05 PM

The Seattle Seahawks and Russell Wilson are not concerned extension talks will become a distraction.

Wilson took out an insurance policy in case he gets badly injured playing under the final year of his rookie deal that will pay him just $1.5 million this season.

"That's just being smart," he said of the policy, shrugging his shoulders after practice, via The News Tribune. "If I do have to play this season (without signing-bonus cash from a new, long-term contract), that's just being smart. That's all that is, really. I think that's the right thing to do."

Eagles, Sam Bradford Discuss Extension

Jun 18, 2015 1:13 PM

Sam Bradford and the Philadelphia Eagles have discussed an extension, but not progress has been made between the two sides.

With Bradford coming off a second ACL injury, the Eagles would likely want an incentive-laden deal they could get out from if the quarterback doesn't perform or gets injured again.

The Eagles could use the franchise tag on Bradford next offseason if he plays well.

Jun 18, 2015 1:11 PM

Bryant was placed with the franchise tag, a one-year tender which would pay him $12.823 million. He has yet to sign the deal and is sitting out the team's mandatory minicamp.

"Right now there's just too big of a divide," Cowboys executive Vice President Stephen Jones told SiriusXM NFL Radio of the contract talks on Tuesday.
